The academic nurse educator certification was created to establish nursing education as an area of specialty for nursing practice. Academic nurse educators engage in a variety of roles and functions, and it is necessary that they are knowledgable about evidence-based practices and policies as outlined in the NLN Nurse Educator Competencies.
